Summer is almost here! Grab your Big or Little, and get ready for a summer picnic in the park! Every summer, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah hosts the ‘BBBSU Summer Picnic’ for Bigs, Littles, and their families. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah’s annual picnic is a wonderful opportunity for Matches to spend time together and include their families in the fun!

Let Loose and Have Fun!

During the event, enjoy a picnic dinner, games, prizes, a photo booth, and giveaways, including backpacks! There is also a playground and grass fields for youth to play in.

We are delighted to announce the attendance of Lake City Photo Booth at this year’s picnic! They will be joining us between 5:00 and 7:00 PM for all attendees to let loose their silliness and document the event with their Digital Photo Booth.

If you are involved in our mentoring programs and want to attend this event, please reach out to your BBBSU Mentoring Support Coordinator for the details of date, time, and location. Admission to the event is free!

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah

For more than 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah has embraced the belief that every child possesses the potential to succeed in life. As part of one of the largest mentoring networks in the nation, supported by generous donors and volunteers, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah facilitates purposeful connections between adult volunteers (referred to as “Bigs”) and children (known as “Littles”) aged 6 to 18, spanning across the state.

If you are interested in volunteer opportunities in Utah, you can learn about becoming a Big and apply to mentor online by visiting bbbsu.org/be-a-mentor/. Potential mentors will be asked to complete an online application, fingerprinting, an interview, and training. If becoming a Big is not something you are ready for, there are various volunteer opportunities in Utah available, including donating, supporting fundraisers, or hosting an activity or party. Or, if you know someone that would make a great Big, refer them by visiting bbbsu.org/referral/. With the help of mentors, we can help create constructive relationships that have a profound and enduring impact on the lives of youth.

Spending Time Together

When Bigs and Littles are Matched together, we ask Bigs and Littles in Community-Based programs to meet at least twice monthly. The purpose of these activities is to help Bigs and Littles spend quality time together. Through spending time together, Littles can connect with their Big, fostering a sense of belonging. Matches often participate in low to no-cost activities such as going to a park, baking, or arts and crafts. Each activity is approved by the Little and their parent/guardian. Matches are also given the opportunity to meet together at BBBSU events, including the Summer picnic. The picnic is a special opportunity to include the Little’s family members in spending time with the Little’s Big.

Our picnic could not be possible without our sponsors’ generous support and donations, including Lake City Photo Booth. We look forward to a fun and memorable Summer picnic!
