How Your Donation of Used Items in Utah Help Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah (BBBSU)

Since 1995, Friends of BBBSU has been collecting used cloth and small household items and selling those on a sliding scale to Savers, Inc. in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah.

  • Twenty percent of the funding supporting one-to-one mentoring for children in Utah comes directly from these proceeds.
  • Eight percent of BBBSU salaries are shared with Friends of BBBSU so we can make sure that the work of Friends is always focused on helping provide quality mentors for kids in Utah.
  • Through its marketing, trucks, etc., Friends of BBBSU reminds people about the important work Big Brothers Big Sisters does on behalf of children in Utah.
  • The 100% volunteer Board of Directors of Friends of BBBSU carefully reviews financial and operational aspects each month. Two of the seven members of this board are representatives of the BBBSU Board of Directors to ensure the focus of its work is providing quality mentoring programs in Utah.
  • The items we collect from you are re-used by others and help keep about 4 million pounds per year out of landfills.
