At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, we believe that every child has the potential to achieve greatness, but sometimes that potential isn’t realized without proper support. Through our programs, we empower kids all over the state, but we wouldn’t be able to do this without the wonderful donations Utah residents provide us with the support we receive from people like you is what keeps our mission alive.

There are a variety of reasons as to why donations are so crucial to our operation, and we want to share some of them with you.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS HELP

The financial support we receive from you allows us to keep doing what we do: empowering kids in your community to achieve their potential. Without the generous financial donations Utah residents provide us with, we would not be able to facilitate the one-to-one mentoring programs we have. In addition to financial contributions, Utah residents also provide us with used item donations — unwanted clothing and other household items. When you donate your used items, you are helping to support the trusting, caring friendships between a positive role model and child in our community. Not to mention, the used item donations Utah residents give help keep out over 4 million pounds at landfills, saving precious room and protecting the environment.

THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO DONATE

The donations Utah residents contribute are vital to everything we do. To support our mission, you can make financial donations by submitting your contributions online. For household items and clothing, BBBS has three different ways you can give what you want to our program: donation bins, staffed donation facilities and scheduled onsite pick-ups. We have staffed facilities and donation bins scattered across the state and you can swing by and drop off what you want. If that is difficult, you can schedule a pick-up from your house and we’ll come to you to pick up your used item donations for free! These items must fall under our approved selection of used item donations.

USED ITEM DONATIONS WE ACCEPT AND DON’T ACCEPT

When we say you can donate “household items and clothing,” we mean the following:

  • Clothing
  • Clothing accessories
  • Personal accessories
  • Toys
  • Media
  • Kitchenware
  • Books

The items that we will not take are:

  • Large appliances
  • Automobile parts
  • Large furniture
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Construction materials
  • Hazardous waste
  • Flammable products

Donations are what enables us to give children a chance to grow as individuals, and every little bit helps our organization greatly. Don’t wait, start empowering children in our community today!
