There are many benefits to being a volunteer. It has been shown to reduce depression and is associated with physical and mental wellbeing. This is where Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah can assist. They provide many volunteer opportunities in Utah.
Become a Mentor
We provide various volunteer opportunities in Utah where anyone can apply to become a mentor. The one-on-one mentor relationship has been a successful model in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah for more than 40 years, with many previous Little Brothers and Little Sisters growing up to becoming Big Brothers and Big Sisters themselves.
In Utah, many children come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Household structure statistics show that single-parent households and families living in poverty and children growing up with an incarcerated parent affect a large portion of the population. It is up to us to give these children a fair chance and help them achieve their full potential.
Volunteer at Events
If you feel you are not ready or do not have the time to be a mentor just yet, you can still find volunteer opportunities in Utah in the form of events. The BBBSU holds two main events each year, namely the Chef and Child Gala and the Bowl For Kid’s Sake. These are highly successful and loads of fun. Other events like Trivia Night and Golf Fore Kids Sake also give you the chance to volunteer your services and learn more about what makes the organization so life-changing for so many. Aside from volunteering, you can also support these fundraisers by forming your fundraising teams and taking part.
