There are many great volunteer opportunities in Utah that interested parties can consider. These allow you to learn a new skill, help out those in need, and meet some new people who can enhance and help your life. With all of the different volunteer opportunities available in Utah, it does not have to be challenging to find one that speaks to you.
BBBSU Offers Opportunities
At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we have many different volunteer opportunities available for those who would like to help. One of our most well-known and popular options is the mentor program. In this role, we match adults in the community with youth from the area as well. After completing the application and passing the required background checks, our mentors will spend time with their mentees, making a big difference.
Our mentors commit to at least a year with their Little to allow them time to meet with each other and form a relationship. They need to meet together two to four times each month to do one-on-one activities to benefit them. The mentor and the Little can decide what they would like to do together. Sometimes they get together in groups in the community, and other times they do activities and meetings together.
This is an excellent time for the mentor to answer questions and be a good role model for their Little. You can learn what your Little likes to do the most and then plan activities around that for some of the meet-ups.
