If you’re like most people, you’re holding onto clothing you’ll never wear again. Maybe they don’t fit quite right, or you’ve gotten tired of wearing the same old things. Styles change, and you shove your old clothes to the back of your closet.

Wondering “Why donate unwanted clothes?”. Those “old clothes” can make a big difference if you donate them to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Utah (BBBSU). Through Savers, a thrift store chain throughout Utah, your donations are turned into cash (or recycled), thus helping the 350 kids currently being supported by our mentoring program.

No matter where you live, it’s so easy to donate in Utah! There are currently 158 donation stations throughout the state. To find the one closest to you, just click here and enter your zip code. Also, it’s not just clothes you can donate; on that same link, you’ll see a list of all the items they take!

Why Donate Unwanted Clothes?

Another cool fact about this donation program is that, so far, 750,958 pounds of cloth waste has been diverted from Utah landfills. Talk about a win-win-win!

Volunteering for BBBSU

Of course, you don’t have to limit your help to clothing donations in Utah. There are many ways you can volunteer with BBBSU. There are so many children awaiting mentors. We are only limited by how many people volunteer their time and energy to become big brothers or sisters.

If you’re just learning about the program now or have heard about it but didn’t know how to get involved, please go to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Utah, to learn how you can change the life of a child. Mentors tell us time and time again that, while they signed up to help the children, the experience has, time and time again, helped them just as much.

Now, ring in the new year and have some fun cleaning out your closets!
