Through volunteer opportunities in Utah with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, Bigs and Littles are given a chance to spend time together this summer. Sometimes, it is hard to find outdoor activities that both the mentor and mentee will love. For this reason, BBBSU has provided five outdoor activities that you can consider trying with your Little this summer:

Visit Thanksgiving Point

When looking for outdoor adventures and exploration, Thanksgiving Point offers various activities that you and your Little might want to participate in.  From Gardens to buttery fly biomes, they have it all!

  1. The Butterfly Garden: This atrium is one full of butterflies of all different species, a perfect place to engage a child’s natural curiosity about the world around them. The ability to hold and interact with the creatures is a great experience. This biome produces a natural curiosity and a connection to nature.
  1. Thanksgiving Point Garden: The Thanksgiving Point Garden is filled with flowers, trees, and landscaping that are beautifully crafted. Littles will be enthralled to explore. It’s great for scavenger hunts, photoshoots, and plant identification.

  1. Thanksgiving Point Farm: Thanksgiving Point Farm is a beautiful place to explore agriculture, farm life, and animals. This is a great place to go if your Little has an interest in the outdoors and animals!

Visit a Water Park

You can visit a water park such as splash pads or waterparks!

  • Splash Pads in Utah: Whether you reside in Utah Country or Southern Utah, multiple splash pads are open to children all summer. View a complete list of splash pads here
