Here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, we believe that every child has the innate ability to achieve great success. Like other volunteer opportunities in Utah, we work together to build a brighter future for the kids in our community. We instill confidence and ignite potential in our Littles by strengthening relationships between them and their Bigs. With Halloween just around the corner, we have compiled a list of fun, inexpensive activities for you and your Little.

  1. Scary Stories

Is there anything kids love more than stories? Rather than reading the same Halloween stories to your Little, try inventing your own! Look up Halloween mad libs for you and your Little and laugh all day long.

  1. Spooky Tic-Tac-Toe

Give your Little a “Rockin” Halloween this season by gathering up 10 rocks and painting them a Halloween theme. For example, half of the stones could be painted like vampires, the other half like werewolves, or maybe half of them could be witches and the other half wizards. Use these rocks to be the x’s and o’s of you and your Little’s tic-tac-toe game

  1. Halloween Movie Character Charades

Has your Little ever seen Nightmare before Christmas? What about Muppets Haunted Mansion or Hocus Pocus? Try playing character charades with your Little. Who can come up with the most convincing Oogie Boogie or Gonzo? The winner can pick the next age-appropriate spooky movie!

  1. Blacklight Ghost Hunt

Have you ever played eye-spy in the dark? As you can imagine, playing in the dark could have its difficulties. However, what if it was a ghost hunt and you had a blacklight? Blacklight ghost hunt is both challenging and fun for your Little; cut out ghosts using white construction paper, provide your Little with a blacklight, and let the search begin! The person to find the most ghosts wins.

  1. Bottle Cap Bat Magnets

Next time you or your Little reach to the fridge for some Apple Cider, have your food coffin decorated- in bats! All you need to make these bat bottle cap magnets are the following:

Simply cut out bat wings and glue them to the back of your googly-eyed bottle cap, and presto- a bat-covered fridge concealing your Halloween goodies! You and your Little can enjoy these decorations while celebrating the season and building a closer relationship.
