The BBBSU program is wildly successful in reducing drug and alcohol use rates for kids under 18. A study shows that throughout the US, kids who participate in the program are 46% less likely to have started using illegal drugs and 27% less likely to have started using alcohol.

One-on-one mentorship in a program like BBBSU is also linked to a significant reduction in crimes committed. The rate drops, even more, when participants have the same mentor for at least one year.
